Everyone who loved racing and cars as a kid had an AFX slot car track. I was no different. A child of speed, destined (or so I dreamed) to be a NASCAR driver, hunched over a 4x8 piece of plywood—meticulously constructing my miniature kingdom of asphalt and ambition. Scenery? Of course. Carefully placed, haphazardly painted—each detail adding to the illusion, the dream. Hours vanished in the whir of tiny electric motors in tiny cars screaming around the track. The unmistakable scent of burning rubber filled the air. (Okay, maybe not the burning rubber—but you get the idea.)
In the years since, my passion for motorsports continued as an avid fan, a professional race team crewmember, and a driver. Through all of that I developed a love for metal fabrication and all things creative.

About Our Tracks

At Scale Speed Lab, we believe that you don’t need highly detailed diorama-style scenery to create an immersive racing experience. Our Stage 1 DIY 1/64 scale CNC-routed slot car tracks are engineered for enthusiasts who want more than just a race—they want an authentic motorsport experience. That’s why we’ve developed what we proudly call “simulated realism”—a signature approach to track design that puts the focus where it belongs: on the racing surface itself.

  • Custom barrier systems, including walls and clear lexan catch fencing and support posts

  • Dedicated pit lane included on every layout

Want to go further? We offer optional pit buildings and track weathering, including skid marks and brake zones, to give your layout a lived-in, race-worn feel.
